New Year Thoughts

Not to brag… but I’m pretty awesome at New Year’s Resolutions. I completed 4 of my 5 my 2013 New Year’s Resolutions!

It’s amazing how much can change in one year.

2012 was full of monumental changes, it was an obstacle that I had to overcome and once I did… I knew I could handle anything!

2013 was an entirely new chapter of my life. I had my first (and second) real, adult job. I had my own apartment. I had a few friends and went on several terrible (terrible!) dates. But I explored, I traveled, I read, I watched films, I listened to music, I studied, I learned, I relaxed and I felt truly happy. 2013 has been by far my BEST year.

The year began in a very quiet way, with lots of alone time and quiet thinking. I was figuring out who I wanted to be, what I wanted to be doing and how I was going to get it done.

In May, I began a new job as a Social Media Specialist for a local company and realized that I had finally found a position, a role and a company that all embraced who I am as a person. It feels wonderful to spend those 40 hours a week doing something that I truly enjoy! With this role, I’ve found myself surrounded by funny, supportive coworkers and also introduced me to someone incredibly important, my boyfriend John.

*I have hesitated to write anything about him yet, mostly because once it’s written, you can’t take it back. I’ve realized that if, God forbid, if we break up tomorrow, next month, or next year, it doesn’t matter that I wrote about him… because he is a huge part of my life right now. Having a real, adult relationship is a first for me, and it’s not to say that there hasn’t been struggles… because there HAS… but he has made my life so much happier by being in it. I have never felt so loved. I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep him around this long… but I’m thankful everyday that he has!

My New Year’s Resolutions this year aren’t very exciting or interesting, but they’re little tasks that I’ve put off for far too long! My primary goal is to stay as happy as I am at this moment!

1. Get a Washington license. (I’ve lived here for almost 2 years now… it’s about time already!)

2. Get a passport. (My passport expired almost 10 years ago, and one of my life goals is to travel more! I don’t have a lot of extra money to travel right now, but I’d like to have a passport available if I ever have the chance to!)

3. Recover my couch. (This sounds super boring, I know, but it’s the single most expensive thing I’ve ever purchased and it’s something I see myself holding on to for a long time. I’d like to take care of it and make it into exactly what I’ve always wanted!)

There’s nothing here but corn fields! Haha I mean there’s Chicago just a few hours away but I just want to leave!! I guess I’m just wondering if it’ll be worth it iut I save up the money.
